EpicX: A platform to move communities forward
EpicX is a two-phase process that turns complex problems into actionable solutions through cross-sector collaboration. It begins with the Warm-Up, where teams define a clear problem and identify an Epic Idea to solve it. The Sprint then transforms that idea into a launch-ready solution—designed, built, and prepared for implementation in just 90 days.
The Warm-Up
The Warm-Up is a three-session process that defines the problem with clarity and generates an innovative solution, creating a strong foundation for a high-impact Sprint that can be developed, tested, and scaled for measurable progress.
1. Understand the Problems
We ground participants in the current state of a shared outcome and surface the top barriers blocking progress. Through collaborative discussion and prioritization, the group identifies two to three core problems to explore deeper in the next session.
2. Investigate Root Causes
We dig into the root causes underlying the identified core problems. Using strategic mapping and prioritization tools, the group selects one core problem to anchor solution generation in the final session.
3. Generate the Epic Idea
We use real-world personas to spark innovative, human-centered solutions to the selected problem. Through collaborative ideation and prioritization, the group selects one epic idea to design and prepare for implementation during the 90-Day Sprint.
The Sprint
The 90-day Sprint is fueled by cross-sector collaborations that lead change with and for communities. Teams combine their expertise, influence, and resources to rapidly design, launch, and scale civic solutions that propel communities toward becoming world-class with opportunity for all.
1. Phase One: 0-30 Days
Teams collaboratively define the goals, structure, and success indicators of the Epic Idea. This includes outlining the delivery model, identifying key components, and creating a clear framework to guide development and execution.
2. Phase Two: 30-60 Days
Teams develop key components, gather insights from stakeholders, and pressure-test the idea in real-world conditions. This phase focuses on strengthening the solution and identifying what’s needed for successful launch.
3. Phase Three: 60-90 Days
Teams finalize the implementation strategy, secure partner commitments, and troubleshoot barriers to execution. By the end of this phase, the solution is ready to move from concept to action, with a clear plan for measuring and reporting impact.
